Bonnie wrote her first magazine
article about Devils Tower, the rock formation where aliens land
in "Close Encounters of the Third Kind." Not a movie set, it’s
a national monument in the Black Hills of the Old West, next door
to her Wyoming hometown. She grew up with antelope, oil rigs and
cattle ranches, but no traffic light in Moorcroft, population 867,
and married a man from Tokyo, population eight million.
Fueled by curiosity, Bonnie writes to learn, as well as persuade,
inform and entertain. While she may still craft an occasional
profile or feature for a magazine, Bonnie mainly focuses on
creating marketing results for her clients. "It's very satisfying
to help companies grow," she says, "especially when I'm helping
environmentally sustainable clients reach their goals."
Bonnie sold computer systems to insurance brokers, prepared financial
statements for small businesses and wrote for a San Francisco ad
and PR agency before she went into business for herself. Bonnie has traveled extensively in Japan, and inspired a game played
by school children in a mountain village -- "I spotted the gaijin
(foreigner) first." She understands enough Japanese to pretend
she’s following a conversation and order terrific sushi. Her
favorite pastime is getting lost and discovering fascinating people
and places by accident.
